Sunci to readers on mariners

There is something about writing to someone , without seeing the other person's face, which is so freeing. Certain elements some to surface far quicker than they would with a common acquaintance which one meets face to face. One opens up more.

On the other hand there is a potential for the opposite at play too- someone whom one may know-well, closing up, giving brief reports .

In this project I have experienced both these types of correspondence.

The two mariners writing to me,  are as different from each other as can be in attitude, in style of writing, and in the work they do.

I.T travels the world. Every two days he is in a different exotic location, working on a fast ship, he is brief, to the point, and up beat always.

MK is stationary for longer periods in one place, he has time to observe, to study people about him, and his journeys are more internal, broody, philosophical and difficult to paint. In fact it has become difficult to post his logs up. They are essays, letters, anthropology, sociology, humour, work, philosophy, boy stuff, routine, work, joys, stories which are ether too politically incorrect to post up publicly or too personal .

Than there are my replies, which are un post able out of the same reasons. The correspondence could be good stuff for a soap opera, and if we where to be true to my original intention with this project-and let you the reader see all our correspondence- I am certain we would have a large number of followers, waiting at the edge of their seats for the next up date.

But I am afraid to disappoint you. Life is complicated, so art must be complicated, so I can't go all the way with this as I believed I would. This is the reason why I post so little. Not because of a lack of material, to the contrary- because of surplus. And its frustrating to cut away all the juicy interesting pieces, the journalistic part of my brain is fighting with the rest of me- to just write everything and let happen what will.. But I can not.

So apologies. What you get are crumbs of the table after a zillion filters. however the project must go on and it has not stopped, even when I go quiet..

So, so long for tonight, dear readers.. I may have to re invent the way we keep this project on line live..
